Hello, visitor. I've decided to recant a little on my vow of absolute anonymity, because it seems as though there really is no Liz in this journal. I don't believe in random ranting about my personal life, since people don't want to read that (or they shouldn't, anyway). What I can say is: I pretty much only exist here in Livejournal land for the slash. It's sad, but true. It's not that I don't have other interests, that I don't see movies and love music and read delicious novels whenever I get the chance. It's just that slash is so much fun and so, so hard to talk about with real people, in real life. There's the whole stigma of gayness, for one thing, and the faintly embarrassing fact that, yes, I do want the lead males in almost everything I love to end up gay for each other - even when there's no evidence that it would ever happen. Maybe even especially then.

Which is why Livejournal is so wonderful. Here is a place of relative anonymity where we can squeal and flutter and rave about these lovely men, these stories. Sometimes the only reason I continue to follow something in real life is because the possibilites for slash are so great (ahem, Harry Potter). And the best part is that the fanfiction is often so good. We're using characters not our own, to be sure, but that's part of the fun, too - to adapt, to make something new out of something old. The thousand facets of Shawn are seen in fanfiction; House and Wilson's relationship can be shown in whole new lights. It's awesome.

So I don't think I should keep myself entirely anonymous anymore. If people who know me in the world find this journal, somehow, I'd rather they read my stories and knew they were mine, instead of keeping myself able to maintain deniability.
